Happy Birthday! - ハッピー・バースデー！

Coo just turned one year old on December 14.  He is now over 5 kilogram with lion mane.

クーは、１２月１４日に満一歳になった。体重も５キロを超え、ライオンのようなたてがみも立派になった。

I made a space in the bookshelf for a new wireless printer, and then as expected Coo fitted into the space.

I brought Coo to Banfield Veterinary Services in practice at PetSmart in Cambridge for the first annual check.

Coo's Amusement Park - クーのアミューズメント・パーク

Several small and large boxes were delivered today and our living room became full of several kinds of packageing materials.

Coo got excited hiding here and there.

I Love Packaging Materials - 梱包材大好き

Coo is always with us when a package is delivered.  He has never missed it.  He likes to get into the box, but he loves the packaging materials, being wrapped with it, lapping it, or gnawing it. 

荷物が配達されると必ずやってくるクー。絶対に見逃さない。箱に入るのも好きだが、梱包材には目がない。包まったり、なめたり、かじったり。

After gnawing the mesh packaging material, Coo showed his tongue a bit.  Coo seldom lolls out because he is a cat.

Coo looked like a cat pretending he is a naive cat.

網状の梱包材をかじりまくったあとにぺロリと舌を出した。クーはネコなので、めったに舌を出さない。

ちょっとあどけないネコのフリをしているネコのようだ。

Coo likes this bubble wrap too.

He strikes us rougher as if he knows we are protected with the material.

Coo on Weekend - 週末のクー

After being squeezed in my arm on Saturday morning, Coo disappeared soundlessly and then was found to be sleeping deeply on his favorite chair.

土曜日の朝、私の腕のなかでムニュっとなったクーは、音もなくいなくなったと思ったら、お気に入りの椅子の上で熟睡していた。

Coo had a good midday nap after playing just a little bit around lunch time. You may think he should be wakeful during night, but again he is sleeping nicely in our bed.

そしてお昼時にちょっと遊んで、午後には本格的なお昼寝。じゃあ、よるはお目々パッチリかというと、ちゃんと我々のベッドで寝ている。

And Coo was sleeping so deep today under the warm sun shine. Great!

This is how Coo looks like this morning. When I sit down in front of my computer, he comes to tie up my left arm. Instead, he has never complained however I squeezed him in my arm. Look at his face! However, he clears out unpredictably and soundlessly. Coo is a cat!

I am going out for NY tomorrow. I took a can of mink oil from a shoebox to polish my shoes. While I kept the door open, as expected, Coo came to go into the only one small space to fit in. He has never missed such rare chance. Coo is getting there - square Coo. he is now on my lap and sleeping so deep.

It is very nice to see my cat going into sleep at a sunny spot.  Really relaxing.

Favorite spots - お気に入り

Coo's recent favorite is the banister on the second floor. Look at his mischievous face! Very different from usual ones.

クーの最近のお気に入りは二階の階段の手すりの上。見よ、このイタズラっ子の表情。普段の表情とは全然違う。
My house is equipped with a roof light window. So, sitting on the banister on the second floor, he may feel like he is on a tree branch in the woods. Coo is a Siberian Forest Cat.

我家には山小屋風の天窓があるので、二階の手すりの上は、森の木の枝の上のような感じがするのかもしれない。クーはサイベリアン・フォーレスト・キャットだからね。

This white, small, dirty stepstool is also Coo's favorite. You cannot tell where and which.

この白い、小さくてきたない踏み台もクーのお気に入り。これでは何がどこにあるのかわからないでしょ？

Coo may want to say, it's a bit tight althoug I could be cocooned under the stepstool several months ago.

Square Coo - 四角いクー

Coo loves bookself. Coo has grown up too big to fit into the shelf.  But, once getting through, Coo is square.

クーの大好きな本棚。最近は体が大きくなって、小さい棚には入りきらない。入ると、棚の形に合わせて四角くなってしまう。

Another recent favorite is the banister on the second floor. Coo is a Siberian Forest Cat, and it is reasonable that he likes elevated places.  It seems to be fun for him to see us from there. It's his spot. He goes into sleep soon.

最近のお気に入りは二回の階段の手すり。クーは「Siberian Forest Cat」、シベリアの森にいたネコだから、高いところが好きなのも頷ける。高いところから人間界を見ているのは楽しそうだし、落ち着けるようだ。直に寝てしまう。

This is also his recent favorite place - on a TV set. It's still too high for Coo to get on it without thrashing his hind legs. He watches TV programs from there and comes onto someone's head.

Bubble Wrap - プチプチ（気泡シート）

Bubble wrap is Coo's recent favorite. When I come back home, he see me at the entrance and then guide me to the bubble wrap to play with me. His glowing eyes through bubble wrap sheet.

Coo caught a fly today! He dushed, jumped, and then hit a fly. Of course he ate it finally. Yes, Coo is a wild CAT! Go Coo!

クーは今日、ハエを捕まえた！　クーはダッシュし、ジャンプし、そしてハエをパシッとたたき落とした。もちろん、そのハエを食べてしまった。そう、クーは野生のねこ。がんばれ、クー！



However, after catching a fly, he got very exhausted and needed to cool down for a while.

Twisted Coo - ねじれたクー

Coo got excited when we brought back all kinds of bags from shopping at Wrentham Outlets. He sniffed aroung several bags and went into a big plastic bag of Polo Ralph Lauren.

今日はレンサムのアウトレット（Wrentham Outlets）に買い物に行った。いろいろな種類の袋を持って帰るとクーは大喜び。いくつか袋を嗅ぎまわり、ポロ・ラルフ・ローレンの大きな袋の中に入った。

Today I bought some souvenirs for my short trip to Japan in September and packed a big suitcase with them. Coo disturbed all
the processes and finally crashed out by the suitcase keeping his body twisted!

My wife gave him a box of Diet Coke. As we expected, he loved going into the box. He is a good guy who loves such free toys!

Coo loves hide and seek. He does not move while I am looking at him, and he gets up closer with stealthy steps while I am not.

Coo loves bags! I do not know why, but whenever we open a bag, he is there and automatically gets in. See his eyes with great interest.

A Story of Thor and Coo - クーとソアの不思議な物語

On Friday, July 23rd, an excited comment arrived from Italy telling she had just visited this blog, Coo the Siberian, to find a twin brother of her Siberian cat, Thor.

Elena shared a link to the forum to which she posted Thor's photos and I was stunned to see "Coo" there in Genova, Italy. Here's Thor's photo.

７月２３日、金曜日、少し興奮気味のコメントがイタリアから舞い込んできた。たまたまクーちゃんのブログ（Coo the Siberian）を訪れた彼女は、自分の飼っているサイベリアン・キャット=ソア（Thor）の双子の兄弟を見つけたのだ。

飼い主のエレナは、ソアの写真を投稿したフォーラムへのリンクを教えてくれた。それを見て私もびっくり。何とイタリアのジェノバにクーがいるではないか。これはソアの写真。

Yes, they are twin brothers, indeed!

そして、これはクーの写真。

確かに彼らは双子の兄弟だ！

When Thor is twisted, Coo is also twisted (see next photo).

According to Elena, Elena and Nicola (married last year) chose to call him Thor because of Siberian's dimensions and because the first day he was at home he was so scared of everything that we decide to find a name of "cowardly giant character" like Thor (the Hagrid's dog in Harry Potter saga).

ソアがよじれると、クーもよじれる（次の写真参照）。

エレナによると、去年結婚したエレナとニコラは、サイベリアンが大きい品種であること、そして最初に家に来たときにとても臆病だったことから、ハリー・ポッター・サガの中のハグリッドの犬＝ソアのように「大きな臆病者」に因んで名前を付けることにした。

See, he is twisted in the same manner.

Becaseu Coo's human parents are Japanese, his formal name is Sora-Taro. Sora means sky and Taro means oldest or first boy. However, because the Chinese letter for Sora reads also Coo, which means inanity.

クーの人間の両親は日本人なので、彼の本名は空（そら）太郎。そしてニックネームはクー。

This is Thor.

Also Thor has never slept in his bed! He always wants to stay in the same room with Elena and Nicola.

Thor's mum and dad are from Russia, from Rossity cattery and now they live here in Italy at Anusia cattery.

ソアも一度も自分のベッドで寝たことがないらしい（クーとそっくり）。いつもエレナとニコラと同じ部屋にいる。

ソアの両親はロシア生まれで、今はイタリアに住んでいる。

The breeder in NY came from Russia, too. So, Thor and Coo could be relatives each other.

クーを買ったブリーダー（ニューヨーク州）の奥さんもロシア人で、クーの両親もロシア出身。だから、ソアとクーが親戚でも不思議はない。

It seems Thor loves computer, especially keyboard!

ソアもコンピュータが大好きらしい。特にキーボードの上が。

And, of course, Coo loves computer, especially biting cables and walking on the keyboard.

This is a fantastic story: Elena found Thor's twin borther in the deep forest connected by the internet. Really amazing story!
